DIY Bride: Divisoria Wedding Finds

Just sharing our Divisoria woohoos and boohoos last Sunday (26 January 2014). Most important lesson is that you always have to trust your instinct. If you’re not comfortable with the vendor, you should always politely decline and leave their stores. We were able to buy fabrics, paper letters, hangers and ribbons. We also inquired prices of Japanese lanterns and metallic balloons. Overall the trip was productive and fun. Here are the details of our trip.

Elizabeth’s Textile – (boohoo!) they tried to sell us broken/discontinuous fabric which may be difficult for the seamstress to work on. Further, when we said that we would want to look at other stores first, they won’t give us our fabric pallets back (which by the way took us weeks to come up with). We decided to just leave it with them betting on our ability to remember the colors.

Baby’s Lace WBC Claren – (boohoo!) the guy assisting us wanted us to pay for the fabrics that are not yet on hand. He wanted us to come back the following week to pick-up/check the fabrics if it’s in accordance with our preference. Plus he threatened us that we won’t find other open stores on Sundays. We decided to pass.
At Elizabth's textile. Ate giving us the broken/discontinuous textile.
Mhel’s Textile Trading –  (woohoo!) finally we found Kuya Mhel. Contrary to the claim of the guy from Baby’s Lace WBC Claren, Kuya Mhel’s store is also open on Sundays. His son is with him helping out in the store. He got unbroken/continuous fabrics that perfectly fit our requirements. We felt comfortable with him and didn’t feel harassed. He even gave an extra yard of chiffon and satin to help us out in our wedding. He also told us that his cousin was about to get married last December in Tacloban but due to the unfortunate typhoon, they decided to cancel. I would surely come back to their store to buy some fabrics for suits and office attire. BTW, chiffon and satin is P50 per yard.

Paper letters for P25 a piece in Tabora St. (woohoo!) Some of the vendors are selling it for P50 a piece. Good thing we found kuya. He even posed when I asked if I could take picture of his stall.

Kuya even posed for the camera

Hangers in 168 mall 2nd floor near the escalator. P250 for 12 pieces. There are also other hangers/mannequin stores in Juan Luna street.
Lace for P30 a roll in Tabora St.
We also inquired prices of balloons and paper lanterns. The glittery lanterns cost P100 a piece while the regular ones is only P35 per piece. Metallic balloons on the other hand costs P276 for 100pcs.
