We
celebrated Valentine’s Day last 15 February 2014 doing our food tasting at Café
Ilang-ilang in Manila Hotel. Since I’m anticipating a heavy
meal, I didn’t eat lunch but Omeng (g2b) brought with him burgers when
he picked me up. We ended up going there with full stomach.
The food
tasting felt really fancy. We had our own menu cards and they assigned a
personal waiter to assists us. CJ (Manila hotel account officer) also solicited
our opinion regarding the food so that they can improve their menu. It felt
nice that customers’ opinions are being valued.
Soup – Both
of the soup are tasty in their different ways.
Asparagus
chicken soup with almond flakes and parsley whipped cream (yummy!)
It has a
light and refreshing taste. The thinly sliced almonds added texture to the
soup.
Cream of
yellow squash with croutons and creamy chive whip (yummy!)
It’s very
different from the asparagus soup since it is very creamy and has a heavy
texture. It also tasted good.
Hors D’oeuvres
Smoked
tanigue with horseradish cream (unique)
Feels and
looks like sashimi but taste like tinapa. I love it in a unique way also.
Roast beef
rolls with remoulade sauce (bleh!)
It’s a
really malansa and bland. I spit it out because I don’t have the strength to swallow
it.
Salads
Seafood
salad with mango (woohoo!)
Perfect
mixture of freshness and “seafoodness” flavours. We would want to add more
mangoes though. =)
Chicken
macaroni salad (woohoo!)
I love it.
It’s like your homemade chicken macaroni salad. Omeng would want to add more
pineapple.
Main course
Roast pork
loin with pommery mustard sauce with bouquet fresh vegetables and Safron Rice
(woohoo!)
We loved it.
The sauce is has an orangey flavour. The saffron rice is quite sticky/gummy
though.
Grilled chicken
teriyaki with spring onion with seasonal vegetables and green peas pilaf rice
(ok lang)
A little
bland for my pallet but the rice is perfect.
Desert
Apple
strudel with rum sauce (yummy)
Typical
apple pie with cinnamon flavour.
Mocha
Profiterolles (yummy)
Chocolates
are meant to be yummy.
